Informational service

Water Heater Lookup provides identification, serial-date interpretation, recall screening, and service-routing information. It is not a manufacturer, inspection service, emergency service, engineering opinion, warranty determination, or safety certification.

No all-clear

Absence of a model record or recall candidate does not prove that equipment is safe, free of recalls, correctly installed, under warranty, or suitable for continued use. Follow official notices and seek qualified physical inspection when appropriate.

Emergencies

Do not wait on this service when you smell gas, receive a carbon-monoxide alarm, or face active flooding or another emergency. Leave the area when appropriate and contact emergency services, the gas utility, or a qualified professional.

Provider marketplace

Public results require an explicitly confirmed customer-facing business phone, active lead capacity, current structured license and insurance evidence reviewed by the operator, provider confirmation within 90 days, current commercial access, and exact matching constraints at lookup time. Those controls are not guarantees of workmanship, availability, current licensing, insurance, price, or fitness for a particular job. Consumers remain responsible for independent verification and their hiring decisions.

Private request status and outcomes

A request receipt may include a private one-time status link. Keep it confidential and open it only in a browser you control. Consumers may correct a prior outcome report; the service retains the dated correction history for marketplace integrity. A consumer-confirmed hire identifies the selected provider but does not establish job price, completion, quality, satisfaction, licensing, insurance, or endorsement.

Provider commitments, contact roles, and corrections

Applicants represent that their submission is accurate, that they maintain legally required licensing and appropriate insurance, and that they will confirm or update material changes. The application distinguishes private review contact information from a public customer-facing phone. The private review phone and email are used for application, account, and operator communications and are not published or substituted as public contact. The public phone is published only after the provider deliberately supplies it and the provider is separately reviewed and activated. Providers may enter the same number in both roles only when customers should call that number. The application records the displayed provider-terms version, permanent document path, acceptance time, and insurance-attestation time; it does not substitute those attestations for the operator's evidence review. Current paid or explicitly time-bounded founding access is required for public routing, but payment cannot purchase qualification or ranking outside verified capabilities or service areas. Providers may use assigned customer details and any Network-plan CSV export only to respond to the request for which the consumer consented and must protect or delete downloaded records under the final provider agreement. Anyone may privately request review of an apparent profile error. A correction request is evidence for operator review, not an automatic edit or removal. Approval may be paused or withdrawn for inaccurate information, poor marketplace conduct, expired or delinquent commercial access, stale records, missing public contact confirmation, or safety concerns.

Billing

Paid provider billing begins only through a separate checkout after approval, current qualification review, and confirmation of a public customer-facing phone. Final cancellation, refund, and renewal terms must be added to the checkout and provider agreement before live billing is enabled.

Permitted agent use

Automated clients may use documented public lookup and discovery interfaces subject to reasonable rate limits, source attribution, privacy obligations, freshness dates, and the prohibition on representing a screening or provider result as a safety, licensing, availability, or workmanship guarantee. Public provider records contain the provider-confirmed customer-facing phone, never the private application phone by fallback. Quote requests require actual user authorization and explicit consent. A returned status URL is private access material and may be disclosed only to the consenting user, not logged, indexed, published, or shared with another person.

Launch requirement

These terms are an operational draft, not legal advice. The operator must add legal entity, jurisdiction, contact, dispute, liability, warranty, cancellation, and consumer-protection provisions after counsel review and before production use.
